Dress Code

WE ARE VERY STRICT WITH OUR DRESS CODE BECAUSE IT HELPS INSTILL THE SELF DISCIPLINE NEEDED TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE IN THE ART OF BALLET.

WE ASK PARENTS TO PLEASE RESPECT THIS.

All Girls- pink tights and pink ballet slippers.  See Mrs Tucker for instructions re: sewing straps, if needed.
 
Hair - long hair must be worn in a bun.
Please bring a hair brush to class and see Mrs Tucker for supplies and instructions.  She will teach ages 5 and up to do their own hair.

Pre Ballet – pink leotards, pink tights. Dancers may wear pink chiffon skirts ONLY if attached to the leotard (little ones tend to play with unattached skirts).

Ballet I, II & III – light blue leotards, pink tights and no skirts in class, please (this age group are learning alignment and the instructor needs to see their torsos clearly).

Ballet III – thin elastic belt called Dance Alignment Belt.

Ballet IV&V – black leotards and pink tights.  Sheer skirts  or dance shorts (no gym shorts) and leg warmers are allowed.

All students – For cold days, girls may wear short, wrap ballet sweaters or shrugs only, please. Ballet IV/V may wear sweat pants for first portion of barre.

Boys – white tee shirt, black tights or dance pants, black ballet shoes.

Where to buy dance wear- Dance wear for girls and women is available at HL Hood’s swim wear store at The Wharf,  named H2O.  They carry a nice selection of the leotards, tights and ballet slippers approved for Gulf Coast Ballet classes. Ms Hood has offered our students a generous discount of 20% so be sure to tell them where you dance.
